Jack DeSalvo is a guitarist, composer, multi-instrumentalist and producer has been hailed by Wire magazine as “a masterful player”. He has performed and recorded on classical, steel-string, electric, 12-string, slide and alto guitars, cello, banjo, mandolin and mandola.
Jack DeSalvo initially appeared on the international jazz scene with thegroundbreaking trio D3 and as a member of the electric harmolodic group Ronald Shannon Jackson and the Decoding Society. The legendary recording Red Warrior (Knit Classics KCR-3032/orig. Axiom) stems from that time with Jack playing electric and slide guitar as well as mandolin Soon after came Transparencies (Bellaphon CDLR-45057) with Karl Berger on vibes, piano and balafon, Jack on electric, 12-string and classical guitars, Anthony Cox on double-bass and Tom Tedesco on drums and percussion.
The first album from D3, Spontaneous Combustion (Enja/Tutu CD-888126), with Jack on electric guitar, Tony DeCicco on double-bass and Bruce Ditmas on drums, is a classic record of fiery improvisation.
